Hair Ribbons Made of Yarn? Silly question - I'm in my 40's and when I was young there used to be these thick rope like hair ribbons made of yarn for little girls. That's all the girls wore around my area. Now they can't be found. Does anyone know where I might get these or why they stopped making them? One brand of those was called "Doodles." Yes, I'm about your age and remember them, too -- to this day, some of us that age still say "hair doodle" meaning any tie you put in your hair. There was also a thick yarn made for tying gift packages, as well, and some of us used pieces of that instead of buying real Doodles. They aren't made anymore, and you can't even get the yarn for packages either. It's just not made nowadays. Anyway, can you do a crochet chain stitch, or do you know someone who can? If so, get a skein of Red Heart Light & Lofty yarn in a nice color. Make your chain stitch as long as you want that hair tie to be. It's not quite as smooth as a Doodle, but looks almost the same. It's also "machine wash warm, tumble dry medium" so it's very easy to keep nice. Lion Brand Homespun isn't quite bulky enough to make these. If that's what you have, however, run a double strand and treat it as one. Do your chain stitch that way, making sure you catch both strands every time. It's not that difficult once you're used to it. (I run double strands often for lots of things, both in knit and crochet.)

Usage Of Yarn In Fleece

Polar (also known as microfleece), usually referred to simply as "Polar" soft nap fabric insulation synthetic polyethylene terephthalate (PET) or other synthetic fibers.
