 Which brand of yarn is better? Hi! I've been knitting and crocheting for a little while now and have been looking to expand my yarn collection. I am using Bernat Softee Chunky yarn and absolutely love it, but there is not enough colors for my liking. I have heard pros and cons of other brands as well. The top three I have read alot on are: Bernat, Lionbrand, and Caron. So if anyone could offer me any advice on which they prefer and which would give me a better color scheme to use that would be great. PS. I mainly knit and crochet hats and afghans, so a soft yarn would be preferable I love the Bernat Alpaca yarn and their other natural blends, they're a little pricey but not too expensive. I use them for wristies, everybody loves them (I sell them). Also the Bernat Satin is cheap but really soft and works well for just about anything, it comes in a wide variety of colors too. For baby stuff I use Bernat Baby yarns, different kinds for different projects. I'm not a fan of Red Heart Super Saver, I find it's cheap and scratchy, I can't do anything with it, I wouldn't even make a blanket for a dog with that stuff. But the Red Heart Soft Touch is nice. I actually use A LOT of Bernat yarns, it's easy to find in my town and the quality hasn't let me down. You get what you pay for though. I don't buy a lot of Lion Brand yarn, even though I like it a lot. I have to drive 30 minutes to the nearest store that carries it. Same with Caron, I do have some that people have given me, it's ok, but I don't seek it out. |
