how much yarn will i need? i am about to make a very large scarf (VERY!!!!) it is 65 stitches wide and 1042 rows long (67730 stitches in total) it will be made with sport/DK (light) wieght yarn, on 6 gauge needles. the color will change 57 times, and there are 7 different colors, and have tassles (12 inches before the knot and each tassle will have each of the 7 colors). about how much yarn do you think i will need? It depends on which stitch you use. For example, a garter stitch is about 4 stitches or 9 rows = 1 inch, while a stockinette stich is about 4 stitches or 6 rows = 1 inch. So in other words, your scarf would be (using garter stitch to figure this out) about 16 inches wide and about 116 inches long. God, I hate math, and I hope I did that right since I don't have a calculator! Anyways, that means that you'll have about 2 inches of each color. These figures might be a bit different because you are using needles just a bit smaller than what I use, but should be close if you aren't a super tight knitter. Using a scarf pattern I have that is 8 inches wide and 68 inches long (roughly half the size of your scarf), it calls for 14 ounces which makes me assume that you should get about 28 ounces of yarn. That means 4 ounces of each color will be needed. Keep the yarn tag (or the paper wraparound) so in case you find you need more, you can look for the same lot number! Use your eyes, because my figures might be a bit off, but my math seems to be roughly around where you need it. Good luck and have fun!

Synthetic Turf for Sports Surfaces
