Pink Yarn

To bleach or not to bleach (acrylic yarn)? I'm just now finishing up a crochet project consisting of a baby hat and blanket, all done up in "boy colors" (blue, green and yellow). However, I just found out that the baby is a girl not a boy, as told to me earlier. I don't want to re-do the project, so I'm considering placing the articles in a 4:1 water to clorox solution until the color comes off, then washing it with woolite in the laundry in warm water, with a red shirt tossed in to make it look pink (fabric softener would also be used). Any hardcore crocheters/knitters have any advice as to this idea? My yarn is Red Heart Brand yarn, 100% acrylic. Thanks!! Instead of bleaching how about adding some pink frills instead. Blue, yellow and green can also be used for little girls. Just add pink and or peach like in flowers or add some lace. It would look adorable and save your project. I am concerned that the other colors would run and end up ruining your projects.
