Thick Yarn

can you crochet 2-3 strands of yarn together to make it thicker? I ordered some yarn online and when I recieved it it was thiner than the discription, but there are 3100 yards. Can I cut it into 3 equal lengths and put them together when I crochet to make it thicker? What would you suggest? Thanks in advance for your help. This is no problem really. What you will need to do is just make up a patch for gauge. Check your number of stitches and rows. If it makes up too big, use a small needle. If it makes up to small use a larger needle. Either way you can use the three strands and make up really nice items. I personally like working with two and three strands but if your not careful you could end up with a tangled mess. I would use 3 empty coffee cans to put my yarn in and this way it stays fairly separate.
